There are so many things that I enjoy in life: dark chocolate, house plants, my fuzzy Minnetonkas. But there are only a hand of things that I truly adore. Adoration goes above and beyond the nice appreciation you have for your favorite sweater. Adoration is the action of devotion. When I devoted my life to Christ, I decided at that moment, whether I knew it or not, to adore him above and beyond all else. My devotion to him became my joy. By devoting myself, I am free to adore him and free to enjoy His blessings here on earth. When I married my husband, my decision to devote myself to him made him my one and only. I get to adore him every day. Sometimes that adoration comes in the form of picking up after him or making him dinner. When I see this as an opportunity to show my devotion to him, these jobs are no longer struggles, but gifts. That sounds so idealistic and of course it is a struggle, but gosh it makes doing laundry so much nicer than if I were to complain about it the whole time. And as we mature, our adoration matures, much like a growing plant. We find new ways to love and adore. I love the feeling of giving someone a gift that they just love. Adoration is this gift. Show the people in your life that they are a gift to you. Adore them and watch joy grow.

I just love your metaphor of the growing plant and maturing adoration. Such a beautiful way to describe it and to think about both adoration and the gifts/duties that come as a result. Thank for sharing this. And, thank you for being a part of this project!
